How to reach Ujjain for the Simhastha 2028 by air via Indore, by train to Ujjain Junction and by road, plus what to expect on Shahi Snan days.
Ujjain is well connected by rail and road, and the nearest major airport is in Indore. During the Simhastha, the challenge is not reaching Ujjain but moving inside it on snan days.
By air
- Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore is about 55 km away, roughly 1–1.5 hours by road.
- It has flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and other cities. Check current schedules.
- Bhopal airport (about 190 km) is an alternative.
By train
- Ujjain Junction is a major station with direct trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, Varanasi, Kolkata and other cities.
- Long-distance trains such as the Avantika Express (Mumbai–Indore) and the Malwa Express pass through Ujjain. Check the current timetables.
- Simhastha special trains and satellite stations are part of the authorities' crowd plan, so you may be directed to a nearby station.
