Two Jyotirlinga Yatra: Ujjain & Omkareshwar

What our Ujjain Simhastha packages include

Every package includes accommodation, transfers from Indore airport or Ujjain Junction, sightseeing by private AC car and a coordinator on snan day, with darshan and outdoor visits planned for the cooler hours.

Planning tips

Avoid travelling on Shahi Snan days, book the Bhasma Aarti online well in advance, and plan for the heat—see Surviving the heat and the 2-day itinerary.

Customise anything

Add Maheshwar and Mandu, a Mangal dosh puja, an Indore night or a group booking. Every package is priced on request—see what affects the cost.

Prices and dates

All packages are priced on request. Rates will firm up once the Shahi Snan dates are officially notified; enquire now and we will hold options for your preferred dates.

Adapting a package

If you are travelling with seniors, any package can be slowed down, with air-conditioned transport, fewer temples a day and darshan at quieter times. Read our guide for senior citizens.

Built for a summer Kumbh

The Simhastha is expected from 27 March to 27 May 2028, when afternoons regularly cross 40 °C. Every package is planned around the heat:

  • Air-conditioned stays, our AC Camp or Luxury Camp, with generator backup.
  • Snan and darshan early in the morning and in the evening, with rest through the afternoon.
  • Air-conditioned cars for transfers and sightseeing.
  • Advice on staying well: water, ORS, light cotton clothes and covering your head (heat guide).

What every package includes

  • A stay close to Ram Ghat and Mahakal, confirmed with the exact camp and photos before you pay.
  • Breakfast and dinner (all meals on the Camp Experience).
  • Transfers from Indore airport or Ujjain Junction, and sightseeing by car.
  • Planning help for darshan, including how to apply for the Bhasma Aarti.

Not included: air or train fares, Bhasma Aarti and VIP darshan fees, and lunches.

About the Bhasma Aarti

The pre-dawn Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar is the most sought-after ritual in Ujjain. Slots are limited and must be booked through the temple's official channels, and demand during the Simhastha will be very high. We cannot guarantee a slot, so it is not part of any package, but we guide you through the application as soon as you confirm. Read our Bhasma Aarti guide.

Customising your package

  • Maheshwar and Mandu: the Narmada ghats of Maheshwar and the hill fort of Mandu (guide).
  • The Panchkroshi Yatra around Ujjain (guide).
  • Mangal dosh puja at Mangalnath (guide).
  • A night in Indore before or after the mela (pros and cons).

How booking works

  1. Enquire now with your approximate dates and group size.
  2. We alert you when the Shahi Snan dates are notified and send options: the camp, photos and an all-inclusive quote.
  3. You confirm in writing before you pay, with the camp name, inclusions and cancellation terms.
  4. Before you travel, we share the plan for snan, darshan and staying cool.

What a day on an Ujjain package looks like

Every Ujjain itinerary is shaped by the heat:

  • Early morning: snan at Ram Ghat or darshan at Mahakaleshwar, before the sun is high.
  • Late morning: one or two nearby temples, then back to your air-conditioned stay.
  • Afternoon: rest between noon and 4 pm.
  • Evening: Mahakal Lok, Harsiddhi's lamps or the aarti on the Shipra, when the air cools.

Travelling as a group

For groups of ten or more we arrange group tents with coolers or blocks of AC cottages, an AC coach from Indore, group meals and a coordinator. Large groups should register early, since camps near Ram Ghat for the Shahi Snans will fill fast once dates are announced.

Access and comfort

Tell us about any mobility needs, health conditions or special diets. In the summer heat we pay particular attention to air-conditioning, shaded walking routes and keeping seniors' days short.

When to travel within the Simhastha window

The Simhastha is expected to run for two months, from late March to late May 2028. The first weeks are cooler and quieter, the Shahi Snan days (once notified) will be the busiest, and May is the hottest part of the season. For families and seniors, late March and April are the most comfortable; for those who want to experience a Shahi Snan, plan around the notified dates and book as soon as they are announced.

Eating in Ujjain

Breakfast and dinner are served at your camp. Ujjain's mornings start with poha and jalebi, and Malwa's signature dish is dal bafla. Keep drinking fluids through the day. See our Ujjain food guide.

Getting to Ujjain

Most pilgrims fly into Indore, about 55 km from Ujjain; every package includes the airport transfer. Ujjain Junction is well connected by rail to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bhopal, and special trains usually run during the Simhastha. By road, Ujjain is about 190 km from Bhopal. On Shahi Snan days vehicle access to the city is controlled, so we plan arrival for the day before. See how to reach Ujjain.

The best moments of an Ujjain Simhastha

Ask pilgrims what they remember and most mention the same things: the pre-dawn quiet at Ram Ghat before the crowds arrive, the drums and conches of the Bhasma Aarti, the lamps of Harsiddhi's deepstambhs on festival nights, and the evening aarti on the Shipra as the heat finally lifts. Our itineraries are built so you are in the right place at those times, and resting in between.

Frequently asked questions

No one can honestly guarantee it—booking is online through the temple. We help you plan and book as soon as the window opens.

About 140 km, roughly 3–3.5 hours by road. Our two-Jyotirlinga package includes it.

You can enquire and register your preferred travel window now. We will confirm options and the final quote once the dates are officially notified.

The Two Jyotirlinga Yatra includes a full day at Omkareshwar. It can also be added to any other package as an extra day.

The itineraries stay the same, but camp availability and rates for the Shahi Snan nights will be confirmed then. We will update everyone who has registered interest.

Our AC Camp and Luxury Camp categories are air-conditioned; Deluxe Camp and tent stays have air-coolers. For April–May we recommend AC, especially for seniors and children.
