A 2-day Ujjain Simhastha 2028 plan: Ram Ghat snan, Mahakaleshwar and Mahakal Lok, Harsiddhi, Kal Bhairav and Sandipani—timed to beat the heat.
Two days is enough to take your Simhastha snan, have Mahakal darshan and see Ujjain's main temples, as long as you plan around the heat and the crowds.
The golden rule: early and late
In April–May, do everything important before 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Rest in an AC room in between.
Day 1: Arrive, Mahakal Lok and the Shipra aarti
- Morning: arrive from Indore airport or Ujjain Junction and check in near Mahakal Lok.
- Midday: rest.
- Late afternoon: Harsiddhi Mata Temple, a short walk from Mahakal.
- Sunset: Shipra aarti at Ram Ghat.
- Evening: walk the Mahakal Lok corridor when it is lit up. See our Mahakal Lok guide.
Day 2: Snan, darshan and the western circuit
- Pre-dawn (optional): Bhasma Aarti, if you secured an online booking. See how to book.
- Early morning: holy dip in the Shipra at your designated ghat. See Snan at Ram Ghat.
- Morning: Mahakaleshwar darshan.
- Late morning: by car, Kal Bhairav, Mangalnath and Sandipani Ashram. See the western circuit.
- Afternoon: rest, then depart, or stay a third night.
On a Shahi Snan day
Swap the plan: snan in the morning with the akhara processions, then rest. Keep darshan and the temple circuit for the next day, as Mahakal queues will be at their longest on snan days.
