A 4-day plan pairing the Ujjain Simhastha 2028 with Omkareshwar: two Jyotirlingas, a Narmada boat ride, Mamleshwar and the Statue of Oneness.
Two of the twelve Jyotirlingas are only a few hours apart in Madhya Pradesh: Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the Narmada. Visiting both is one of India's most popular Shiva pilgrimages, and the Simhastha makes it extra special.
Distances
| Route | Approx. distance | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Indore airport → Ujjain | 55 km | 1–1.5 hrs |
| Ujjain → Omkareshwar | 140 km | 3–3.5 hrs |

Day 1: Arrive in Ujjain
- Transfer from Indore airport and check in near Mahakal Lok.
- Evening Shipra aarti at Ram Ghat and a walk through Mahakal Lok.

Day 3: Omkareshwar
- Leave Ujjain early, around 6 a.m., to beat the heat.

- Boat ride on the Narmada for the best view of the island.
- Optional: the Statue of Oneness (Ekatmata Dham), a 108-ft statue of Adi Shankaracharya on Mandhata hill, unveiled in 2023.
- Overnight in Omkareshwar, or drive to Indore.
See our Omkareshwar guide.
Day 4: Depart from Indore
- Morning drive to Indore airport, about 80 km.
- Optional stop at Maheshwar if you have time. See the Malwa heritage plan.
Tips
- Heat: do outdoor visits before 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
- Omkareshwar crowds: Mondays, Shravan and festival days are busiest.
- Boats: wear life jackets and agree fares in advance.
