The Haridwar Kumbh 2027 runs from 14 January to 20 April 2027. In April 2026 the mela administration announced ten bathing days, three of which are Amrit Snans—the days when the akharas process to Har Ki Pauri in a grand procession.

Which day should you choose?
For the full spectacle: pick an Amrit Snan. You will see the akhara processions, but expect the heaviest crowds, the longest walks and tight police control. Roads into the mela close from the previous evening.
For families with children or seniors: choose a regular snan day such as Basant Panchami, Magh Purnima or Nav Samvatsar. The atmosphere is still extraordinary, and the ghats are far more manageable.
For weather: January and early February are cold and foggy at dawn. March and April are pleasant—arguably the best balance of comfort and atmosphere.
Planning tips
- Book early for March. Maha Shivratri and Phalgun Amavasya fall just two days apart, so many pilgrims plan a single trip covering both, and stays fill up fast.
- Arrive a day before. Traffic restrictions begin the evening before major snans.
- Stay close. A camp or hotel within walking distance of the ghats removes most snan-day stress.
- Add Rishikesh. It is just 25 km away and easy to visit on a non-snan day.
