What our Prayagraj packages include

Packages include accommodation, transfers from Prayagraj Junction or airport, a boat to the confluence for your snan and sightseeing by car, with a coordinator throughout.

Planning for the Ardh Kumbh 2031

The Prayag Kumbh follows the month of Magh (around January–March). Mauni Amavasya is traditionally the biggest bathing day. Official 2031 dates are awaited—see what we know so far. Sangam snan packages are also available outside the Kumbh.

Prices and dates

The next Kumbh at Prayagraj is the Ardh Kumbh 2031, expected around January to March 2031. Official dates and camp allotments have not yet been announced, so all packages are priced on request. Register your interest and we will share options as soon as dates are confirmed.

Adapting a package

If you are new to Kalpvas, read what is Kalpvas? to understand what the month involves before you choose.

Built for a winter Kumbh by the river

January nights on the Sangam sands are cold, damp and often foggy. Every package is planned with that in mind:

  • Heated or well-insulated stays, with heaters or extra blankets in Luxury and Deluxe camps.
  • Boats in daylight for the snan, with experienced boatmen.
  • Buffer time for fog, which can delay trains, flights and road travel.

What every package includes

  • A stay in the mela, with the camp's sector and photos confirmed before you pay.
  • Meals: all meals on the Sangam Snan Package, breakfast and dinner on the yatra, and two meals a day on Kalpvas.
  • Transfers, and boat rides where listed.
  • A coordinator for the snan and for finding your way around the sectors and pontoon bridges.

Not included: travel to Prayagraj, private boat hire, special darshan fees and puja expenses.

The main bathing days

The Prayag Kumbh traditionally follows the month of Magh, with major snans on Paush Purnima, Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya (traditionally the most important and most crowded), Basant Panchami and Maghi Purnima, ending with Maha Shivratri. The 2031 dates will be confirmed by the authorities. See what we know about 2031.

How booking works

  1. Register your interest with your preferred dates and group size.
  2. We share options when 2031 dates and camp allotments are announced: the camp, sector, photos and an all-inclusive quote.
  3. You confirm in writing before you pay.
  4. Before you travel, your coordinator shares the plan for your snan and your sector.

What a day on a Prayagraj package looks like

  • The evening before: arrival at your camp, a walk to find your sector and nearest pontoon bridge, and the aarti at the Sangam.
  • Snan morning: a boat to the confluence after first light, your dip, and back to the camp to warm up with breakfast.
  • The rest of the day: Bade Hanuman, the fort area and the mela sectors, the akhara camps and the katha pandals.
  • Evenings: bhajans in the camp and the lights of the tent city across the sands.

Travelling as a group

Village and community groups have travelled to the Prayag Kumbh together for generations. For groups of ten or more we arrange group tents, shared boats for the snan, group meals and a coordinator.

Access and comfort

The mela is built on sand, and some areas are uneven and soft underfoot. Tell us about any mobility needs and we will choose a camp near a firm road, plan boat boarding at an accessible point, and keep walking short. Heating and warm bedding are especially important for older travellers in January.

Why stay in the mela rather than the city

Prayagraj's city hotels are several kilometres from the Sangam, and on major bathing days vehicles are stopped far from the river. Staying in a camp on the sands means you can walk to the ghats and boats, take part in the evening aarti and bhajans, and feel the atmosphere of the mela, which is very different from visiting for a few hours.

Visiting outside the Kumbh

Prayagraj does not go quiet between Kumbhs. Every year, in the month of Magh, the Magh Mela fills the same sands with camps, kalpvasis and pilgrims, with bathing days on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami. If you cannot wait until 2031, a Magh Mela visit gives you the Sangam snan, Kalpvas and the atmosphere of the tent city on a smaller scale. Our Sangam Snan Package and Kalpvas Package can both be planned for the Magh Mela.

Combining Prayagraj with Varanasi

Varanasi is about 120 km from Prayagraj, and many pilgrims combine the two. If you only have one extra day, a single night in Varanasi lets you see the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and take a sunrise boat ride before returning. With more time, our six-day yatra adds Kashi Vishwanath and Ayodhya.

Getting to Prayagraj

Prayagraj Junction has direct trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and most major cities, and special Kumbh trains usually run on major bathing days. Prayagraj's airport has domestic flights, and Varanasi's airport, about 120 km away, offers more connections. During the Kumbh, vehicle access to the mela is controlled, so we arrange your transfer to the nearest permitted point.

The best moments of a Prayag Kumbh

Pilgrims return from the Sangam with the same memories: the boat ride out through the morning mist, the meeting of the two rivers' colours, thousands of lamps floating on the water at the evening aarti, and the sound of bhajans drifting across the tent city at night. Our packages are planned to give you those moments without the stress of finding your own way across the sands.
