Kumbh Tent Camps in Haridwar: What to Expect

Swiss cottages, deluxe tents or basic camps? What Haridwar Kumbh 2027 camps offer, what to check before booking and what camp life is like.

Staying in a tent camp is the most memorable way to experience the Kumbh. You wake to temple bells and bhajans, walk to the ghat with other pilgrims, and spend evenings at satsang. But camps vary enormously, so here is what to expect and what to check.

Types of camps

Basic tent Bedding on a platform or floor, shared bathrooms Young travellers, sadhana groups
Standard cottage Bed, lighting, charging point; shared or attached bath Budget families
Swiss cottage / deluxe tent Raised wooden floor, proper beds, attached western bathroom with hot water, heater on request Families, couples, first-timers

We offer every category—Luxury Camp, Deluxe Camp, Tent Stay and Dormitory & Group Tents—with the exact camp, photos and price confirmed for your dates.

What a day in camp looks like

  • Pre-dawn: tea at the tent, then a walk to the ghat with the camp coordinator on snan days
  • Morning: breakfast in the dining hall
  • Day: explore the mela, akhara camps and temples
  • Evening: Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri or in camp, followed by bhajan sandhya
  • Night: dinner, then early to bed

Checklist before you book

  1. Exact location. Which sector, and how far from Har Ki Pauri on foot? Ask for a map pin.
  2. Bathrooms. Attached or shared? Western or Indian? Is there hot water, and at what hours?
  3. Heating. January–February nights in Haridwar can drop to around 5 °C. Ask about heaters, blankets and insulated walls.
  4. Power backup and charging.
  5. Meals. Usually sattvik vegetarian. Check what is included.
  6. Security. Guards, CCTV and lockable tents.
  7. Medical help. Is there a first-aid room, or a doctor on call?
  8. Cancellation terms in writing.
  9. Who is the operator? Is the camp on land allotted by the mela administration? Get the company's name and address. See How to spot fake Kumbh bookings.

Camp or hotel?

Camps win on atmosphere and walking distance. Hotels win on privacy, lifts and proper rooms. Read Where to stay for the Haridwar Kumbh.

When to book
