Haridwar weather month by month for the Kumbh 2027 (January–April): typical temperatures, fog, cold river water and what to pack.
The Haridwar Kumbh 2027 spans four months, from 14 January to 20 April, and the weather changes a lot across that time. Here is what to expect and pack.
Month by month
Typical ranges; actual weather varies from year to year.
| Month | Typical temperature | What it's like | Snan days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | ~5 °C to 19 °C | Cold mornings, fog, chilly river water | Makar Sankranti (14 Jan) |
| February | ~8 °C to 23 °C | Cool mornings, pleasant afternoons | Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Magh Purnima |
| March | ~12 °C to 29 °C | Pleasant; warm afternoons | Maha Shivratri and Phalgun Amavasya (Amrit Snans) |
| April | ~17 °C to 35 °C | Warm to hot afternoons | Nav Samvatsar, Baisakhi (Amrit Snan), Ram Navami, Chaitra Purnima |
The Ganga is cold throughout, as it comes straight from the Himalaya. A pre-dawn dip in January is bracing.

Fog and travel
Dense fog in late December and January can delay trains and flights into Haridwar and Dehradun. Keep buffer time, especially around Makar Sankranti.
Best months for comfort
March and early April offer the best balance of weather and Kumbh atmosphere, though the March Amrit Snans are also the most crowded. See all snan dates and our first-timer's checklist.
