How the Simhastha 2027 tent-city framework works, what a monsoon-ready camp must have, and a checklist to verify any Nashik Kumbh tent booking.
For the 2027 Simhastha, the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has introduced a framework that allows private landowners and operators to set up temporary tent cities, which must run as fully serviced settlements. That means more camp options than ever, and more need to check them carefully.
Why camps are different in Nashik
The Simhastha bathing season falls in August–September, right in the monsoon. A tent that would be fine in a dry Haridwar winter can be miserable in Nashik's rain. Monsoon readiness is the number one test.
What a good monsoon camp has
- Raised floors or platforms, with no water pooling inside
- Waterproof roofing and walls; ask whether the tents have double layers
- Covered walkways to the dining hall and bathrooms
- Attached or covered bathrooms with hot water
- Drainage around the site; ask how the site handled heavy rain
- Power backup and charging points
- Mosquito protection: nets, screens or treated areas
- Medical room or a doctor on call
- Shuttle arrangements to Ramkund or Trimbakeshwar
Verification checklist
- Is the operator approved under the Kumbh Mela Authority's framework? Ask for the approval reference.
- Exact location: a map pin, distance to Ramkund or Kushavarta, and the shuttle point.
- Real photos or video of the actual cottages, from this season if possible.
- Written confirmation with inclusions, meals, and cancellation and refund terms.
- Payment to a business account in the operator's name.
- Reviews from previous events or seasons.

Camp or hotel?
If you are travelling with seniors or young children in heavy rain, a hotel may be more comfortable. Compare options in Where to stay.
