Compare Panchavati, central Nashik, Nashik Road, Trimbak Road and Trimbakeshwar town for the Simhastha 2027—walkability, monsoon comfort and budget.
The Nashik Simhastha has two bathing sites 28 km apart, so the first decision is which town to base yourself in. The second is how close you can get to the ghats. Here is how the main areas compare.
Quick comparison
| Area | Best for | Distance to snan site | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panchavati (old Nashik) | Ramkund snan, Ramayana sites | Walkable | Narrow lanes, closed to vehicles on snan days |
| Central Nashik (College Road, Gangapur Road, CBS) | Hotel choice, restaurants | A few km to Ramkund | Shuttle or walk on snan days |
| Nashik Road | Rail access, Muktidham | ~10 km to Panchavati | Further from the ghats |
| Trimbak Road (between the two) | Access to both towns | Varies | Traffic on snan days |
| Trimbakeshwar town | Kushavarta snan, Jyotirlinga darshan | Walkable | Very limited rooms; books out early |
| Tent cities | Mela atmosphere | Depends on location | Choose monsoon-ready camps only |
Panchavati and central Nashik
If your priority is the Ramkund snan and the Kalaram Temple, stay in or near Panchavati. Central Nashik has the widest choice of hotels with lifts, AC and restaurants, which suits families and seniors. On Amrit Snan days you will walk or use shuttles.
For comfort with mela access, see our Luxury Camp.
Trimbakeshwar town
Ideal for Shiva devotees and anyone planning rituals at Trimbakeshwar. You can join the darshan queue before dawn and walk to Kushavarta. Rooms are limited, so book early. Read Staying in Trimbakeshwar.
Tent cities
The Kumbh Mela Authority has issued a framework allowing private operators to set up fully serviced temporary tent cities for the Simhastha. In the monsoon, choose camps with raised floors, waterproof roofs, covered walkways and power backup. Read Nashik Kumbh tent cities, and see our Monsoon-ready Cottages and Deluxe Camp.
Our recommendation
- Seniors: a central Nashik hotel, with a pre-arranged snan escort
- Shiva devotees and ritual pilgrims: Trimbakeshwar town
- First-timers wanting both sites: Nashik city, plus a day trip to Trimbakeshwar on a non-snan day
- Atmosphere seekers: a monsoon-ready tent city
