Getting between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar during the Simhastha 2027: buses, taxis, snan-day parking and shuttles, and why not to shuttle on Amrit Snans.
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar are only about 28 km apart, roughly 45–60 minutes on a normal day. During the Simhastha that simple drive needs planning.
Normal days
- MSRTC buses run frequently from Nashik's CBS / Old CBS bus stands to Trimbakeshwar.
- Taxis and app cabs are easy to find. Agree a return time with your driver.
- The road passes Anjaneri, revered as Hanuman's birthplace, so it is worth a stop.
Amrit Snan days (2 Aug, 31 Aug, 11–12 Sep 2027)
- Both towns host Amrit Snans, and both are under traffic control.
- Preliminary plans reported in 2026 described parking zones on the outskirts, with shuttle buses to holding points and then a walk to the ghats. One early plan described parking for Trimbakeshwar-side pilgrims at Khambale, with shuttles onward. Exact points and routes will be in the final police advisory.
- Don't plan to visit both towns on the same Amrit Snan day. Choose one.
Recommended approach
| Your plan | What to do |
|---|---|
| Snan at Ramkund, darshan at Trimbak | Snan on the Amrit Snan day in Nashik; Trimbakeshwar another day |
| Snan at Kushavarta | Stay in Trimbak the night before. See Staying in Trimbakeshwar. |
| Darshan only | Choose a weekday that isn't a snan day or a Shravan Monday |
Monsoon driving tips
- The Trimbak road climbs into the hills, where fog and heavy rain are common in August.
- Drive in daylight, slowly, and with headlights on.
- Avoid stopping at roadside waterfalls on narrow stretches.
Shravan Mondays
August 2027 is the month of Shravan, and Trimbakeshwar sees huge crowds on Mondays. Expect traffic on this road to be heavy too.
