Quick answers to what pilgrims ask us most—about dates, snan days, stays, safety and packages—followed by questions for each Kumbh city.
General Kumbh Mela questions
The upcoming Kumbh melas are Haridwar (14 January – 20 April 2027), Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha (Amrit Snans on 2 August, 31 August and 11–12 September 2027), Ujjain Simhastha (expected 27 March – 27 May 2028) and the Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh (expected January–March 2031). Always confirm dates with official notices.
A Purna Kumbh is held at each of the four cities about every 12 years. An Ardh (half) Kumbh is held about six years later at Haridwar and Prayagraj. The Prayagraj Kumbh at the end of a longer cycle is called the Maha Kumbh. The Nashik and Ujjain Kumbhs are called Simhastha because they are held when Jupiter is in Leo (Simha).
On the most auspicious bathing days, the akharas (orders of sadhus) process to the river and bathe first. These are the most spectacular—and most crowded—days of the Kumbh. Pilgrims bathe at public ghats once the akharas have bathed.
No mandatory paid registration for pilgrims had been announced as of October 2026. Ignore unofficial "registration fee" messages and check official government sources before you travel.
As early as possible—stays within walking distance of the ghats sell out months ahead for Amrit Snan weeks. Share your dates with us and we will hold options and confirm the exact camp and price in writing before you pay.
Yes, with planning. Choose a regular snan day rather than an Amrit Snan, stay close to the ghats, carry contact cards for every family member, and travel with a coordinator who knows the routes and meeting points.
Accommodation, airport or station transfers, sightseeing by car and a coordinator who escorts you to the ghat on snan day. Every package can be customised and is priced on request, because Kumbh rates change with dates and availability.
