Combine the Nashik Simhastha 2027 with Maharashtra's Jyotirlingas—Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar and Grishneshwar—with routes and a 6-day plan.
Maharashtra is home to three of the twelve Jyotirlingas recognised in the well-known Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram, the hymn of the twelve Jyotirlingas:
- Trimbakeshwar, near Nashik
- Bhimashankar, in the Sahyadris
- Grishneshwar, near Ellora
The Simhastha is the perfect occasion to visit all three.
Some traditions place a fourth, Aundha Nagnath or Parli Vaijnath, in Maharashtra too. Follow your own tradition.

Shorter version (4–5 days): skip Bhimashankar and end at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) airport after Grishneshwar and Ellora.
Things to know
- Grishneshwar: by tradition, men remove their shirts before entering the sanctum. The Ellora Caves are usually closed one day a week, so check before planning.
- Bhimashankar: the last stretch is a hill road through forest. Monsoon brings thick mist and heavy rain, so drive in daylight with an experienced driver.
- Shravan Mondays in August are extremely busy at all three temples.
- Don't drive on Amrit Snan days around Nashik.
