Temple · Nashik–Trimbakeshwar
One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, unique for its three-faced lingam representing Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Trimbakeshwar’s black-stone temple was rebuilt in the eighteenth century under the Peshwas. The lingam inside is a small hollow containing three thumb-sized lingas representing Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
The Shaiva akharas take their Simhastha snan at the nearby Kushavarta Kund, considered the source of the Godavari, which rises on the Brahmagiri hill above the town.
