How to visit Haridwar's three Siddh Peeth goddess temples—ropeways vs trekking, the order to visit, timing and tips for seniors during the Kumbh 2027.
Haridwar is protected, devotees say, by three goddesses: Mansa Devi on Bilwa Parvat, Chandi Devi on Neel Parvat, and Maya Devi in the heart of the old town. Visiting all three on the same day is a cherished Haridwar tradition.

Ropeways
Both hilltop temples have ropeways (udan khatola), and a combined ticket for both temples is usually available, with a shuttle between the two lower stations. Expect:
- Short, scenic rides over the forest and the town
- Long queues on weekends, Navratri and Kumbh snan days
- Rules on bags and items; travel light
Ticket prices and operating hours change. Check at the ropeway counters on the day.
Walking up
Both temples have stepped paths of roughly 2–3 km. They are steep in places, with monkeys about and slippery steps after rain. The walk suits fit pilgrims who start early. Seniors should take the ropeway.
Suggested order (half a day)
- Maya Devi in the early morning, near Har Ki Pauri.
- Mansa Devi by ropeway.
- Shuttle or taxi to the Chandi Devi ropeway base, then go up.
- Return for lunch and rest before the evening aarti.
Tips
- Go on a non-snan day. On Amrit Snan days the ropeway queues can run for hours.
- Monkeys: keep food, glasses and phones secure.
- Dress modestly, and carry a scarf.
- Leave footwear at the official stands.
- Tie a sacred thread at Mansa Devi for your wish. Tradition says you return to untie it when it comes true.
