Chandi Devi Temple
Temple of Goddess Chandi on Neel Parvat across the Ganga, reached by ropeway through forested hills.
Chandi Devi is dedicated to the goddess Chandika, who is said to have rested on Neel Parvat after slaying the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. The present temple was built in the early twentieth century.
The ropeway ride over the forest and the view of the Ganga’s braided channels are memorable, especially in clear winter light.
