Triveni Sangam

The confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati—the holiest bathing point of the Kumbh Mela.

At the Sangam you can see the muddy Ganga meet the greener Yamuna. Boats take pilgrims to platforms at the exact confluence for the snan, and in winter the river fills with migratory Siberian gulls.

During the Kumbh, a vast tent city of akharas, ashrams and kalpvasis spreads across the sand banks around the Sangam.

Visiting tips

  • Agree the boat fare and number of passengers before you board.
