A 2-day Simhastha 2027 weekend plan from Mumbai or Pune—train and road options, what to see in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, and how to avoid snan-day traffic.
For Mumbai and Pune residents, the Simhastha is close enough for a weekend pilgrimage. Two of the 2027 Amrit Snans even fall on a weekend: Saturday 11 September at Nashik and Sunday 12 September at Trimbakeshwar.
Getting there
| From | By train | By road |
|---|---|---|
| Mumbai | About 3–3.5 hours to Nashik Road on fast trains | About 170 km, 4–5 hours |
| Pune | Limited direct options | About 210 km, around 5 hours via Sangamner |
More detail is in Mumbai to Nashik: train, expressway or ghat road? and How to reach Nashik.
Weekend plan (Saturday–Sunday)
Friday night: travel to Nashik and check in.
Saturday
- Early snan at Ramkund.
- Kalaram Temple and Sita Gufa.
- Evening Godavari aarti.
Sunday
- Early drive to Trimbakeshwar for darshan, then Kushavarta.
- Afternoon return to Mumbai or Pune.
If you're going for an Amrit Snan weekend (11–12 September)
- Travel Friday, not Saturday morning.
- Stay in only one town for the weekend. Nashik for 11 September or Trimbak for 12 September. Don't try to shuttle between them.
- Leave Sunday late afternoon or Monday, after restrictions ease.
- Expect parking zones outside the city, with shuttles inward.
Day trip?
A same-day trip from Mumbai is possible on a non-snan weekday, leaving at dawn, but it is tiring. One night in Nashik makes it far more comfortable.
Monsoon note
The Kasara ghat section on the Mumbai side and the hill roads near Trimbak can see heavy rain, fog and occasional landslides in August. Check the weather and road advisories before driving.
